The historic Ambassador Hotel is moving closer to final approval for its transformation into a modern hospitality destination. Gateway Jax is scheduled to present plans to the Downtown Development Review Board on April 9, 2026, seeking final approval for the redevelopment project.

Gateway Jax acquired the downtown property in March 2025 for $17 million. The adaptive reuse plans call for converting the landmark building into a 105-key hotel that will include a high-end restaurant and bar, conference space, and additional amenities.

The project represents a significant investment in downtown Jacksonville's architectural heritage and hospitality infrastructure. If approved by the DDRB, the redevelopment will mark the next chapter in the Ambassador Hotel's history as a downtown landmark.
